Effect of Well Orientation on Oil Recovery from Waterflooding in Shallow Green Reservoirs: A Case Study from Central Africa

Recovery efficiency is a key factor in decision-making oil and gas projects. Although structural setup well type considerably influence waterflood recovery, few studies have explored the performance of highly deviated wells during waterflooding complex shallow reservoirs. Here, we applied numerical simulations to investigate vertical, horizontal, multilateral, reservoirs using J1 Oilfield as case study. efficiencies 31%, 33%, 26% could be achieved for wells, respectively. The production rate was 39% higher vertical than other types. Highly yielded highest water-cut (80%) over short period. delivered least production, and, despite branching laterals, multilateral were also not most productive.
